Great opening of PHF 4 teams hockey series, Pakistan Juniors scored 3 goals against Sui Southern Gas, WAPDA defeated NavyIn The magnificent opening of the PHF4 Teams Hockey Series, the winning captain of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, was the special guest of the opening match. In the opening match Pakistan Juniors defeated Sui Southern Gas 0-3, in the second match Pakistan WAPDA defeated Pakistan Navy by 1-3 goals. The special guest of the second match was Head Coach National Hockey Team, 1994 World Cup Gold Medalist Olympian Khawaja JunaidUnder the auspices of Pakistan Hockey Federation, 4 teams hockey series got off to a great start. Two matches have been decided on the opening day of the hockey series to be held at the National Hockey Stadium Astroturf Ground No. 2 at Lahore. The first match was played between Pakistan Juniors and Sui Southern Gas which was won by Pakistan Juniors by 0-3. Moin Shakeel, Hanan Shahid and Arbaaz scored for Pakistan Junior. The match was supervised by umpires Yasir Khurshid and Sibtain Raza while Mazhar Wasim acted as reserve umpires. The technical officer of the match was Shafqat Malik while Syed Ali Abbas and Muhammad Naeem acted as judges.The second match was played between Pakistan Wapda and Pakistan Navy which was won by Pakistan Wapda by 1-3 Goals. The first goal for Pakistan WAPDA was scored by Umar Bhatta while the second goal was scored by Ijaz Ahmed and the third goal was scored by Ilyas. Muhammad Junaid scored the only goal for Pakistan Navy. The match was supervised by umpires Yasir Khurshid and Mazhar Waseem while Sibtain Raza performed the duties of reserve umpire. Syed Ali Abbas performed as the technical officer of the match while Muhammad Naeem and Shafqat Malik acted as the judges. The special guest of the opening match was the 1984 Olympics winning captain, legend Olympian Manzoor Jr. The distinguished guest was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at the stadium and was introduced to the players and officials. Accompanying him on the occasion were Staff Officer President Pakistan Hockey Federation Zahoor Janjua, Tournament Director Lt Col R Asif Naz Khokhar, umpire’s Manager Rashid Butt, Ghulam Ghous Game Development Officer Asian Hockey Federation and Muhammad Shahid were also present. The special guest of the second match was 1994 World Cup Gold Medalist, Pride of Performance Olympian Khawaja Junaid Head Coach National Hockey Team. The distinguished guest was accorded a warm welcome on arrival at the stadium. And they were also introduced to the players and team officials. Secretary General Pakistan Hockey Federation Olympian Asif Bajwa was also present at the ground to watch the performances of the players at all times. Tomorrow, July 11, two matches will be played. The first match will be played between Pakistan Wapda and Sui Southern Gas at 5:30 pm and the second match will be played between Pakistan Junior and Pakistan Navy at 7:30 pm at Floodlights.
